Issue 4
December 2009
Dear Crafter,

Hope you have had a wonderful Holiday. With cold weather setting in, we are spending more time finding inspiration indoors and doing craft projects to make us feel warm. In the spirit of the cold weather, we want to share this easy felt craft project with you.  Felt Beads!
When you have completed this project, your fancy felt beads can be used to make Jewelery, Dolls, or used as embellishments on all sorts of things. Want to share your finished project with us? Email pictures of your arts and crafts to craftideasweekly@gmail.com or post them on Facebook.com/CraftIdeasWeekly

Easy Felt Beads
make-a-gift-card-envelope An easy felt project that can be used for all sorts of things
Time: *
Difficulty:*

This project was developed by a very talented artist named Ansley Bleu  (Read more about her below.)

What You Will Need:
Scraps Of Wool Yarn
A Basin of Warm Water
Dish Soap
A Towel
Vinegar and Clean Water

How To:
1. Gather wool yarn scraps you have from other projects.
2. Start by using your hands to roll up all but a few longer scraps of yarn (keep these to the side - you will need them)
3. Wet the ball of yarn you are working down in very warm water, alternately squeezing out some of the water and rolling it between your hands. You should start to notice the strands of your yarn breaking down and melding together a little.
4. Wrap your reserved strands around the ball and work them in to gently bind the ball together. This will help provide additional structure and color to your ball.
5. Pour a few drops of liquid dish soap on your palms and gently begin to rub and roll the ball. Keep rinsing the ball under hot and cold water and adding soap as needed. Your ball will start to look like felt in this stage.
As the ball begins to shrink and get firmer, use a little more pressure as you roll it around in your palms.
6. When the ball seems solid, rinse it in cold water to remove any excess soap. Rinse again in a vinegar and water solution. Squeeze out any excess moisture and set aside to dry.

About Us
Unlike a lot of the craft sites and newsletters out there, this one is truly a labor of love. Making things and inspiring people are two of my greatest passions. I started this newsletter as an opportunity for my friends, crafters, and artists around the world to share the beautiful things they make with each other. It is a joy to be able to help connect creative people with each other in this way and I thank you for being a part of it.

This newsletter is all about you and what brings you joy and inspiration...want to see something featured? Please email me and let me know!

Sincerely,

Molly Fisher
