Make Homemade Natural Petroleum Jelly

I look for natural products over ones that are full of junk (if I wouldn’t feel comfortable slathering myself in dissodium whatever, why is it ok when it is in a brand name lotion?)
But it is confusing to tell what is really natural and what is just being marketed that way. The FDA requires companies to put ingredients on the back of cosmetics, listed from most to least. Turn over that lotion, Ladies…the first 5 ingredients are what that product is mostly made of.
There are things many of us use every day that can be made naturally and often very simply at home. Homemade Mock Petroleum Jelly is a versatile basic that has just two ingredients: Beeswax and Olive Oil. Find a mason jar you like and…yay! Natural, inexpensive, good for all. You can also add a few drops of essential oil if you would like – I love a lavender and sage mix. Grapefruit and vanilla is also a lovely blend.
“A Delightful Home” shows us how to create this wonderful beauty staple at home. If you can find a local beekeeper to get your beeswax (Google it, you’ll be surprised,) even better! Supporting your local economy AND using the best that Mother Nature has to offer? Now THAT is what pretty looks like. :)
