Make Magnetic Paper Dolls For The Fridge
by Craft Ideas Weekly • June 17, 2010 • Make This • 3 Comments
This wonderful kids craft idea was sent to us by Dana Sullivan from Dwntwncntrygifts in Indianapolis, IN. Thanks for the ideas and the tutorial, Dana!
What you will need:
Cricut Paper Doll Cartridges or Paper Doll template from craft store
Laminator or Laminate film (like clear contact paper)
Magnet tape or individual magnets
Velcro
How To Do it:
To start you will need a Cricut or a pre-made paper doll shape. (Michaels sells pre- made ones for about $2.00 or so)
Draw the eyes and mouth.
(For Cricut users)
These are already scored for you on the Paperdolls Cricut cartridge. I used the “Everyday Paper Dolls” and “Paper Dolls Dress Up” cartridges. I also make little ones to give to my doctors and nurses on a popsicle stick and one for just about anyone I come across. It is easy to make them look like people and they love it!
My doctor even took her “nurse” paper doll on vacation with her and took pictures of the nurse in the sand at the beach at the tiki bar, etc … too cute.. Anyways, I cut them out 8 inches then I laminate them to protect them – small children like to tear up paper dolls. Then I just cut the clothes out on the Cricut also and laminate them and put velcro on them so the dolls can change clothes. If you don’t have a Cricut you can buy clothing cut outs from me on Ebay or just buy them at Micheals although you may have to scale down the size of your dolls to make sure they fit.
Dana also suggests other cute ways to use these:
Make Scenes For Your Dolls – I also cut out pictures from magazines or people and things and do the same thing they are really cute and fun.
I also did a bathroom paper doll and a tub and put it in a frame in my bathroom its sooooooooo cute.
Dana will do special orders for paper dolls in any size requested – just email her for details: dwntwncntrygrl69@yahoo.com or see her on eBay
She also sells already made fridge paper doll kits and clothes to match starting at $5.99. (shipping is next to nothing because these are very light)
