Make A Peek-A-Boo Valentine Carrier

When the Valentines Day party is over at school…how do they take all of their little treats home with them? You could just set the class up with shoe boxes, but who (other than maybe a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills) has 30 shoe boxes lying around?

Here is a simple idea for something you can make a bunch of and donate to your favorite teacher: A Decorative “Peek-A-Boo” Valentine carrier with ribbon handles.
All you need is a package of recycled paper bags, pretty ribbon (handles I cut were about 12-14 inches for each,) and some Martha Stewart Decorative Punches (I used Martha’s Floral Lace ‘Punch Around The Page’ Punch and Martha’s ‘Punch All Over The Page’ Star Punch for the window.
First, punch the top border edge. Leave the bag folded and insert it into the edge punch up to the top, keeping an eye on where the design will go. Martha Stewart punches have a design on the top and sides to make lining up easy.
Now for the ribbon handles. Using a hole punch, with the bag closed, punch two holes all the way through. Each should be about 1.5 – 2 inches from the top and about an inch or two from the center in either direction. Valentines are not usually very heavy, but for extra reinforcement, you can put a line of masking tape on the inside before you punch your holes.
Lace your ribbon through the holes, front to back and tie loose knots in each side to keep the handles attached.
Next cut a piece of clear cellophane and tape it to the inside to complete the window.Next, use your ‘All Over The Page’ Punch to cut the window. These punches have a magnetic base – put this inside the bag where you think you would like your window(s) then align the top on the outer part of the bag. 6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot, Punch! (**not actual measurements – random late 80′s Beetlejuice reference.**)
Use markers and stamps to decorate or just hand them over to the kids with some crayons, stamps, and glitter glue — they love the decorating part!
